Recognising the importance
of the maritime industry in supporting the country's growing
economy, the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) in
collaboration with JBC Solutions Sdn Bhd and KASI Maritime
Consultants Sdn Bhd are proud to present the East Malaysia
Maritime Conference (EMMC 2005), a not-to-be missed event.
This premier event will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia
on 22nd & 23rd September 2005.

| The
Honourable YAB Datuk Haji Musa bin Haji Aman, Chief Minister
of Sabah will be officiating this event by delivering the Keynote
Address on "Exploring New Opportunities and Challenges
in Port and Shipping Developments In East Malaysia". |
| The
EMMC 2005 conference will present a total of 16 speakers who
are experts in their fields and is expected to be attended by
some 150 delegates who will include senior private and public
sector executives as well as regional and international maritime
decision-makers from Asia and Europe. |
| Urgent
issues to be raised at the conference will include the need
for more investment in the maritime sector, port efficiency
and improved port facilities to cater to the growing export
volumes of crude oil and condensate, petrochemical products
as well as crude palm oil from the East Malaysian Ports. The
growth in the region's container traffic and the challenges
facing the industry will be addressed. Recent developments in
the field of maritime security, in IMO and in other maritime
fields will be focused on. |

concurrent 2-day conference is held also in collaboration with
key sponsor, Suria Group and non-profit making research organisation,
MIMA (Maritime Institute of Malaysia). |
| East
Malaysia Maritime Conference 2005 (EMMC 2005) is the stage where
experts from around the AP region speak on the many issues that
will shape the future of the maritime industry. The EMMC 2005
represents all aspects of the international shipping industry.
The conference sessions were designed and tailored specifically
for the shipping and trade markets. These sessions are best
associated with the goal of delivering immediate commercial,
technical, regulatory and strategic value to the industry and
its international participants. |

investment opportunities within the state of Sabah and Malaysia
generally, and with important regional and international trading

| EMMC2005
will attract delegates from more than 15 countries, capitalising
on the role of Sabah as the regional hub for Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines-East
ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). This sub-regional economic co-operative
zone covers more than 1.5 million sq. km. and has a population
of more than 50 million people. |
